I’m partnering with Santa Clara County Supervisor Margaret Abe Koga to provide a Youth Mental Health Town Hall. Join us to hear from a panel of professionals and advocates about the challenges affecting young people and learn how we can take meaningful action together.
Panelists include:
Sophia Krish, a Los Gatos student and advocate, has worked to combat mental health issues for her peers and served as the Education Lead of the Eating Disorders Resource Center (EDRC). As the lead high school research intern under Stanford Professor Eric Stice, she worked to implement The Body Project, a scientifically proven program that reduces the onset of EDs by 77%, across numerous high schools in the Bay Area.
Dr. Apurva Bhatt, a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist and Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, specializes in early psychosis evaluation and treatment. She is the director of the Child INSPIRE clinic and is also a school psychiatrist for the Redwood City School District and the Los Altos School District. Dr. Bhatt’s research interests include Asian American and South Asian youth mental health and prevention of youth suicide.
Dr. Jennifer Zumarraga, a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist at El Camino Health, helps lead the ASPIRE adolescent mental health program. Her clinical interests include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, and depression. She is a strong advocate for the bio-psycho-social approach, working closely with individuals and families to address educational, social, relational, and medical needs to support the whole person.
